Most of my experimenting of date has been stopped down trying for maximum detail in the flowers that I have been photographing. This time I went to other extreme shooting wide open, handheld, natural light trying to attain an ethereal, dreamy quality for the rose. How did I do?

Thanks for the feedback.
Image was shot at 1/60 sec at f/2.8; ISO 400; EC=0; No Flash
Image was cropped to 8x10.
I think what you see as oof is the "ethereal" look that I was trying for by shooting close-up (actually 1:1) at f/2.8. The innermost edge and the edge to the left are in the same plane and, I think, in focus. The rest is outside the dof and looking oof.
Make sense?

Rather like it - just enough in focus to hold my interest :)

Thanks, Brian. Appreciate the feedback. You have framed the real issue here... Is there enough in focus at f/2.8 to hold the viewers' interest.
Other thoughts?
