I am writing this to seek help from experts here regarding converting digital photographs eg. waterfalls into extremely LARGE wall paper or framed photo to be pasted or hung on the lobby wall measuring 20 X 8 feet.
Any ideas? sources? etc are welcomed

Sorry, I can't help either. Suggest you check other forums such as Fred Miranda's or Shutterfreaks or even DPreview.

Cheers

A photo made that large would likely come out quite dirty as the pixel resolution would not allow for such a blow-up. Unless of course You have thousands of dollars in equipment.
Then again, I could be wrong.

Is there a print output service bureau near you? The kind that provides extreme-sized output for advertising agencies to mount on billboards, bus stands, etc. They would have the equipment and expertise needed, and might even be available to advise you on how to upsize and prep your image file for enlargement. And a proper service bureau will provide you w/color profiles, etc.

Your first step should be to find a place that can print an image in strips wide enough to be used as wallpaper. You aren't interested in printing 8*10's on your inkjet and assembling them are you? That would be a big job...

Thank you for all the replies thus far.

Umm, this sounds viable but I think the cost will be enormous.

Anyway no harm give it a try!

Thx

There is a company in Washington State (US) called Big Print shop that might be able to do the printing for you. They charge $3 - $5 USD per square foot. They are using laorge format printers and can print with dye or pigments inks - pigment is a little less quality but is more permanent. I have not delt with them yet but will be doing soem art printing in the future.

Call them for more info.
