Hi,
I recently upgraded from an Olympus E-20 to the DRebel. One of my reasons was the very slow speed of the e-20 (espcially with that non-accelerated card slot).
Now I have a 512 Ultra II card. I kinda see an improvement, but it is definitely not the advertised 9MB/sec write speed.. I know that this is usually in "controlled envirnoments", but when I take 3mb pictures, the camera takes much more than 0.3 sec to write the picture. Is that because the DRebel takes more time to compress it? Shouldn't it be faster? What is the actual reason for that?
Also, read speed when downloading to a pc is far from 10MB/sec. It's true that I am using a generic card reader, but it doesn't make any difference if I connect the camera directly to the comp - still the speed is about 1-2MB/sec. My laptop is fairly fast (USB 2.0, HDD 5200rpm, P4 2.4), so I don't think this is what slows it down.
So my question is- what are some ways to increase the actual read/write speed?
Thanks guys!
