I'm picking up a 40D. When I want to use it on a tripod with MLU, should I use a shutter release cable or will using the timer (2-sec.?) give me the same steady result?
Thanks! :)

I would use the cable. Even with the 2 second timer you probably would have some vibration left from pressing the shutter button on the body. As a rule for me I use the cable whenever I use MLU.

Thanks for the response. Would the same issue exist with the timer set to 10 sec.?

10 seconds is probably enough time to settle, but if you're doing this with any regularity, use a cable. 10 seconds will get old fast. Even when you use a cable, make sure it isn't pulled or waving when you take the shot.(depending on how sturdy your tri-pod and mount are).

Agreed. Sitting there waiting for the shutter to click will get real old when you set it to 10 seconds especially when you want to take multiple shots.
