hi, i'm trying to make up my mind on which camera to buy. i own the a70 now,but would like to upgrade to either the g6 or the s1si. what do you think is more important ....pixels or telephoto or both ? i usually just print in 4x6 and 8x10. thanks for your thoughts on this subject.

The s1's picture quality is even worse than the a70 at times.. I'd go with the g6

I could very well be wrong, but I get the feeling the S1-IS is just an older A series with a big lens stuck on it.
If you want better quality then the G6 is by far and away going to be the better camera.

But if your happy with the A series quality, but far to often find you need a bigger zoom then get the S1.

Personaly I would move up to the Pro1, or a 300d.
I dont think the G6 is enough of a step up, as your still limited by the same things in that its still a point an shoot (altough a very sophisticated one).

Unlike the A80/95, the S1 uses a smaller CCD sensor...So, u could get more noise

G6 if you are serious. S1-IS if you are goofing around and are more of a casual shooter. I've purchased both for friends and you should evaluate your needs before moving forward. The S1-IS is a joy to use, the 10X lens is really good, focus is reasonable, and the IS works well. Of course, it cannot compete with the G6 for image quality, "pro" features (RAW, flash hotshoe, etc.).

The sensor size of the G6 is similar to the A80/95..As for the features, they're nearly the same and you would basically end up the a similar DOF.

Hmmmm the image quality is on a different level on the G6, you seem to be concentrating on the sensor and forgot about that glass bit that sticks out the front.
