I am using Photoshop Elements and want to add a dab of color to a black and white photo. Can someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks

to get what you want...try
1. open b&w photo
2. create a new layer
3.set forground colour for an area and paint it in
4. adjust the opacity for that layer to get the desired effect
5. repeat steps 2,3,and 4 for each new colour. you can go back to each layer and readjust at any time.
good luck
ive never used elements, but i think it should work the same as ps????

The photo in this link was done by making a second layer and desaturateing the fist layer. Then uncover the B&W layer with the eraser to bring out the underlaying colours.

great shot!!
i'm verrrry slowly learning ps. Is there a better way to add the whisp of colour, assuming the original photo is b&w?

Hi Conk
You can also get the same effect as desaturating by setting the paint brush mode to colour and brush in the b&w, no need to make an additional layer
