I purchased a A85 with a 512MB memory card in hopes of recording video. I was told that with a larger memory card, I could record video longer than 30 seconds at 640 resolution rate. Is this true? If so, How do i change my settings?

The amount of video you can record at one burst is limited by the (built-in) buffer on your camera, and is 3 minutes. This can't be changed. A 512 MB CF card will allow you to record about 12 minutes, cumulative, and you don't have to change anything. To set the video resolution to 640 x 480, put the camera in "Movie" mode and use the "Func" menu to set the resolution (bottom option, I think - that's where it is on my A80).

Is this true?I was under the impression that when shooting in 640x480 on the A85, you are limited to 30sec, no matter what size the memory card.

It is limited to 30 seconds per clip.. Once the 30 seconds is up the video will end and you'll have to start a new one.
