installing the hack on the 300D I have noticed many additional features in the custom menu and I have enjoyed them, however can someone tell me what the 1/2 1/3 setting in the custom menu has to do with, (shutter speed or apature), sorry if that is a dumb question, but I do not notice a difference on the lcd screen when I change the setting.

The settings change the aperture and shutter adjustment from 1/2 stops to 1/3 stops.

I've a table here (http://www.rogercavanagh.com/helpinfo/40_tvav.stm) showing the two scales.

I tried the 1/2 setting out, too, and thought it broke the camera. The rebel can only display 1/3 increments, which means it will only show the +/-1 and +/-2 etc settings. (I might have my 1/3 and 1/2 switched.) None of the in bewteen settings "light up". I'm back to the original 300D setting.

Does the 300D not display the 1/2 stop settings in the viewfinder or display LCD?, if not how do you know what speed or setting you are on, does the rebel only display 1/3 stops?

I'm finally home and able to check the camera, and yes, the 300D will only display the 1/3 stop settings (it's built into the lcd and the view finder). It also appears that the 300D will ONLY take pictures in 1/3 stops.

Here's what I did; I switched to the 1/2 setting. It still took three clicks to get to +1 over exposure. However, the +1/3 and +2/3 didn't appear, so I "thought" it might take a shot at +1/2. Nope, it was still at +1/3 even though it didn't show it.

So, it looks like the 1/2 hack tries to work, but the 300D will still only fire at the 1/3 increments regardless af the setting.

What does the EXIF data say?
