I have been with my professional digital camara like 2 years. I did a weeding and some birthdays party's. But those party's are from family and i didn't charge for them. but now i am in a situation that i have the equipment and i love photography but i need to live too of this thing. But the thing is that because is family i did not charge. I study photography 2 years. But of course i don't have the many experience of weeding etc etc But i need to charge. i have one more month. I am studying to make my own photography business. I have the studio that is going to do my pictures etc. I already found the prices of my competence. But i need to practice more in How to charge people. Is very hard everyone around me knows that i take pictures but they think that is a hobbie and is not a hobbie. i am spending lot of my time in this computer learning and reading books. Of course i am not an extra professional. I am beginner but i have a lot of study. I am giving some free photograhs interchanges. But i dont like anything more and i would love to live of photography.
just to let you know in the south part of Puerto Rico a weeding is not less than $1,000 and a 15 birthday party is $700 etc etc
I am just selling pictures like for $20.00 and $10.00 But come on a camara. My equipment is $2,000.00 and i pass a really bad time when my camara turn off one day and i have to send the equipment to miami. Anyway the thing is that when you have a really expensive equipment and you have to pay your things. You need to charge .
I know that you need charge %50 up front. I am taking some courses to break the ice with people. But for now have been doing pictures for my family but i have to pay my gasoline etc etc. i did my bussiness cards now i am waiting for the calls. But i need to go to the malls and streets a bussiness behind the desk is going to end. Of course you need the pc etc But How to really charge people????
