last time when i opened the cover, my s40 did not power up. it still did power up via the back button.

so i took it apart, messed with the inside of the front cover, then it worked.

a month later, it happened again, so i took the camera apart, and re-aligned the contacts inside the front cover. i put the camera together and nothing happened. it wont even power up through the back button.

now, is it that my main battery could be dead? could the dead battery within the front cover stop the camera from working?

or did i do something else to screw up the camera?

thanks for the help

im running a photoblog ( http://www.sunghooncho.com/daily/ ) so its a bit detrimental to the website needless to say

It's possible that your main battery is dead (why not try another to find out).

The backup battery would not cause this issue.

It could be something else (burnt circuit, poor contact, etc.), but you may want to try to clean the battery contacts (a pencil eraser works well) and try another battery before sending the camera in for service.

thanks for the answer. i just ordered a new battery, that should be coming in soon.

how would a burnt circuit occur? canon would have to troubleshoot this right?
