does that look like a god deal
most other places are selling the 750watt 3 lamp kit for 149, so would it be better to get the 1500 or 750?

Those would likely serve your needs well. For continuous lighting. Why not look into buying strobes?

what would be the benefit to getting into strobe?

everytime i see your name i think of the robot in star wars that looks like a trash inside the Jawa's(sp?) sand cruiser

Well, while I'm not an expert, I'll say this...

Strobes are usually brighter (have a higher color temperature), and since they don't stay on all the time, they are cooler in the long run (possibly keep your model from sweating). Since tungstens burn constantly, they get pretty hot.

Tungstens do have some advantages though. Since they do burn all the time, they are more of a "what you see is what you get" kind of lighting. I doubt you'd need a flash meter for them as you'd already know what the lighting is going to be by looking through the viewfinder.
