Vivitar 285HV and Sunpak 383 new on B&H?

i hear the vivitar is discontinued

the sunpaks are going for 60+ shipping on ebay bids
its 80 bucks at B&H
im going more towards the new sunpaks on b&h rather than having zoom capabilities
i think 2 will do along with my 580ex II

Yea for the 20 dollars i would to.

I am in the same boat, i have a 580exII, and i want another flash maybe two.
How will you be triggering them all?

B&H, definitely says "In Stock". Give them a call just to make sure.

remote optical slaves for now since i have a couple
i say remote coz its a few feet away from the flash
then the 580 is connected to the camera via sync cord

been having fun with a couple of flashes lately....but i need more
and i like the portability

The Vivitar is NOT discontinued. There was a rumor about it, but Moishe from Midwest Photo Exchange talked to one of the guys running the company that produces the Vivitar at the PMA show and they are certainly not discontinued. Apparently there was a batch with more defects than usual and they're working to get that sorted out.

There's a thread with his reply on the Strobist discussion group on flickr. If I come across it, I'll post it up.

Thanks for clearing that up Villiage. I like my Vivitar and was looking forward to getting 2 more when the defect issues are sorted out.
