I just bought the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and have a 1GB Sandisk II compact flash card.

I was wondering about how many pictures I could store on this, in each format.

If anyone could give me an estimate, or an exact number if they know, that'd be great.

Thank You :)

Your asking for someone to do a lot of work for ya. Luckily it's already been done. Look at page 60 of the manual. There is a table with the info you seek.

Ahhh, well I'm glad it's in the book then :-P

The camera hasn't gotten here yet :(

As long as it comes before 3:15 I'll be good, cause if it doesn't, it's bound to come when I'm in class, which means I have to go over to UPS and have a joy standing in their hour lines like last time.

But I'll be sure to check it when I get it.

Thank you.

Well here is a sneak peek then. As the manual has them for 512mb cards, I doubled them for you. L, M, S = large, medium, small and the F, M = fine and normal
LF 260
LN 498
MF 432
MN 820
SF 752
SN 1418
Raw 100
Raw+jpeg 72

Thank you very much, much appreciated.

I suppose I should buy another 1 gig.

Someone said something about not buying more than 2 gigs because when they die, you lose a lot, where as if you buy 2 x 1gig, you will have another 1 gig left instead of losing 2 gigs all together, is that wise, or should I just go for the 2?

i would get 2 -2 GB cards....the reason why people say to get 2 cards is if something happens to the first, you have the other as a backup and not caught without a card.

Size has nothing to do with it, besides save you money. I use 2 -2 GB cards....and sandisk and kingston.

RAW I get about 80+- with mine.

I agree! I think two cards per camera is the best way to go.

The cards are pretty reliable but I would not use a CF card for long term storage. As to the size, that’s pretty much personal preference. Some like more, but smaller cards, others fewer and larger cards. They all work fine.

Ahh, well, then I'll buy 2 x 2gb cards when I get some spare cash.
