I have the standard DPP from Canon which is good for 99% of my work. I also have PS7 but admittadly I do not have a clue how to use it.
What I can not for the life of me figure out how to do is skew photos when I crop. I hope I am describing this correctly... to skew, like if my horizon is way off level, I want to crop and then I should be able to grab one of the corners and spin my crop it so the horizon is level now. Is there any way to do that in DPP? Even the software that came with my very first 1.2 mp HP camera could do this. I am sooooo frustrated.
Thanks in advance!

Open Photoshop and load the image.
Go to Filters/Distort/Lens Correction.
Top left second from the top, grab the straighten tool and click it point to point on the horizon. You can also do a vertical if you don't have a horizon.

In PS7, unless I have some wonky copy of it, there is no Filters>Distort>Lens Correction.
Go to the toolbar. Right click the eyedropper tool, choose the little ruler icon (Measure Tool) in the popup. Run that along your horizon to mark it. Then go to Image > Rotate Canvas > Abitrary. Click OK on the popup, and it'll rotate your image the corresponding amount. You'll need to crop the image since it won't do that automatically...it'll enlarge the canvas instead.

A quick way of doing this is to use the "Ruler" tool (it's under the Eyedropper tool) and then draw a line with that along the horizon you want to be straight (it also works on verticals too).
Then use Image->Rotate->Arbitary
Then the image will be rotated to make the horizon level. Crop off excess to suit.

The quickest and simplest way would be to rotate the crop. After you set your crop size, move outside the the lines, hold the left mouse button and rotate your crop.

This works in PS and DPP

OMFG, I am trying to do this now... where is "CROP?"
Holy mother of @#$%... I really shouldn't be using this... it's WAY to advanced for me. How do I crop? Where is this ruler?
This is way above me.

You can always try Perspective cropping. When you click the Crop tool, at the top toolbar you should see a drop down that says "normal". Click it, and change to perspective. Now you can crop pictures at angles instead of just rectangular.
Hope this helps.

If you are in PS the shortcut to the crop tool is the letter "C". If your tool palette is open on the left, just mouse over the icons and wait for the description. The ruler is located in the toolbar under View or Ctrl+R. Open your file in PS the hit "c" and the crop tool appears. Left click an anchor corner and then hold and drag. Release and move the cursor outside of the crop area. You will see a double arrow, left click and hold and drag. When you have the photo straight move back inside the crop, right click and "crop".

Beauty! This worked perfect. Thanks very much.

Cool! I've been using Photoshop for over 10 years and I didn't know this one. Thanks!
