Any thoughts on how I can get a sharper image? This was shot with a Sony A700, Kenko stack, 50mm 1:2.8 DG Macro (Sigma)

Man that is close up!! The earwigs I posted seem similar to this....is this a crop shot? Lovely details on the eye though!

maybe not crop, as when you crop you do lose a lot of image guilty, also try stacking

Good shot - what aperture were you using ?- You tend to have to widen the aperture as you go up in magnification to avoid diffraction softening of the image but it is always a balance between image sharpness and image DOF (unless you also use focus stacking)

f/5.6, 1/750sec

Ah - very open aperture- why 1/750th ? I'd try around F8-F11 for greater DOF then :)

My macro rig is a Sony A700 with 50mm sigma. Tripple stack of Kenko tubes. I am a beginner and couldn't get the light right. Kept blowing the highlights. Oh, and found out when shooting the worm, I had my color range set for sunset instead of neutral. Once I got that right I shot @ f/11, 1/250sec.
