Colour variation in PS Print with preview

I have noticed a big difference between the colour I view under Print with preview and the preview option I get in the next dialogue box Print just before printing.

The problem is the print with preview regarding colour is the same as what I see when working on the image in PS. whereas the preview just before print looks like the printed sheet.

I obviously need the same as what I view when working on the file as the last preview option and printed sheet is always much more red and lacks balance

Any Ideas on how I can correct this? I hope I have explained this Ok

Your equipment list mentions cameras and lenses but no printer! What printer and paper are you using? What color management options are you selecting in "Print with Preview" and what printer driver options have you selected?

What I have seen with my system is that the print preview hardly ever shows what the true color of the printed image is going to be. What I see in my preview is what I would normally get with color management turned off. And I get this same non-color managed preview image no matter what color management setting I use. So, for me at least, the preview image is useless.

I have the Canon i9900 and I have found that I get the most color accurate prints when I let Photoshop manage the colors on both sides of the fence, i.e. by specifying the appropriate printer ICC profile instead of specifying "printer color management" in the 'Print with Preview' window.

Sorry, I have the Epson 1270 printer and I use the colour management system in photshop ( I think) until I get to the last stage that asks me for paper being used and the printer. Here I select Epson 1270 and matt photo quality paper. It is at this stage that if I view the preview I get from the print what I see in the preview.

So how can I change this to see in Photoshop what I get from the print, or at least as close to what I preview at the last stage before printing. I assume that what I see at the last preview stage after selecting printer and paper is colour managed by Epson.

As I indicated in my previous post I never found the print preview to be very useful as it's never shown what the print will actually look like. Or, maybe I'm just not doing it right. What I rely on is the actual image in photoshop to see what the printer output is going to look like. So far, what I see in PS is what I get on paper except, of course, for the very slight difference due to differences between a monitor and paper.

You are probably sending different data to the printer than what you are seeing in photoshop - meaning that your color management is not set up right.

Are you using using Photoshop Elements or Photoshop CS? What color space are you pictures taken in and what is your Photoshop editing color space (sRGB or Adobe RGB)?

In "Print with Preview" check the "show more options" box and let us know what source and print spaces settings you have.

As PacAce noted, the printer driver image preview is not really relevant and sometimes is misleading when you're using Photoshop.

Check the link I provided earlier. It's really a step-by-step guide, especially helpful for Epson printers. And most of the "steps" are important. :?

Thanks for the link, you guys are truly the best.

I have just followed the instructions on the link and the results are just out of this world. The best I have ever done on the Epson 1270. I was not aware of the many option on the Epson printer management.

I sure I will be able to tweek these option even further as I learn more.

Just one other question, under the paper types there does not seem to be an option for the Epson premium luster photo paper. Can I down load this profile and if so how do I install it
