View Full Version : Screen seems dark with a very slight pink tint after calibration

Has anyone ever dealt with this before? I just skimmed through the entire color management thread and could not find an answer. I used Spyder2express and now my screen is darker than usual. I usually keep the brightness at 100%, so is the darker screen just something I have to get used to? It also seems to have a very slight pink tint to it. Should I rerun Spyder?

Thanks for any advice.

It is normal for it to be much different than you are used to. You should start with the monitor set to it's default parameters. Make sure Adobe Gamma is not coming on in startup. Now do your monitor calibration in a dim room. Make sure no light is striking the surface of the monitor.

Thanks for the reply. I am fairly certain I did the set up correctly. The screen is now making me squint from the effort. Maybe my eyes just got accustomed to the super brightness?

Here's a photo that looks correct (color-wise) on my screen. Does it seem ok?

A properly calibrated monitor will not be as bright as the default settings in most monitors.

The colors in that photo look alright but the brightness is too high on my calibrated monitor.

Thanks. The brightness seems right to me, so I will try again with the Spyder.

i had similar - then realised the spyder2Pro had not been sat entirely flush against the screen.
tried again with a darker room and took more care ensuring the spyder was properly mounted.
got much better results.

Looks a bit too bright to me too, but because you lack detail on the cheeks, I think it is the image itself.
