These don't really do it for me. It's hard to see the band and the backs of peoples' heads are very distracting. I agree that this is a great production at what looks like a beautiful church. I think that you can get some fantastic shots with the colors and lighting that the stage presents itself. I'm looking forward to the next series.

Agree with the "back of heads" remark.
next time stand on a chair or so to get a bit higher. Then you'd have quite a nice overview.

That's an amazing looking production for a worship service! Would be nice if you posted larger images.

Great pics and a fancy looking production. However, my view was always that worship was for glorifying God. Slapping 2 big images of the lead singer here onto big screens like that and spotlighting the rest of the group would seem to be putting the focus elsewhere.

Thats a whole new topic of discussion;) indeed i have my thoughts.. but strictly from a photography POV, that church worship would be a blast to shoot in. great lights, nice stage, crowd shots, and i assume great music.

Very interesting subject and composition... The lighting in #1 is real nice too.

What an odd perspective. I would have thought that anything that would bring people, particularly young adults, into the house of the Lord, and reach out to them in community would be seen as a rather direct service to the Lord. It would be pretty hard to have images of God on the screens rather than the performers for fairly obvious reasons and you'd have fewer folks hanging out, mingling with the true believers and getting the message. I am not a Christian (as this worship appears to be) but gathering the flock in Holy Communion seems a clear focus on religion.

I'm an avowed secularist, but have to say that this venue and the presentation has a certain wow factor!

As for whether it's appropriate, churches through the ages have used music as a hook to get people interested - it used to be the case that you would be frowned upon if caught singing on Sunday anywhere outside church - so I find it hard to see the problem. And you've got to get people in the doors before you can preach to them!

regards,
/alan

I suspect that if the debate on how to do church continues, the thread will be promptly shut down, so I won't join in (tempted as I am, especially as a Christian myself).

It looks like a great venue to shoot in. I'd see if you can cover one of the services and get closer to the stage, tho.

Nice pics given the limits of your position.

As so eloquently stated above...

I've heard of this church for some reason. Does it or someone there have some kind of national recognition.
