I think I'd trust the 10's pretty well. But, i'm a bit weary of anything less than 10. Is 9+ good? Or should I just hold out for new?

Thanks

I wouldnt, but not because of its rating.

My guess is that the difference between a 9 and a 10 is nothing but cosmetic. A chip here, a scuff there. The optics would be clean and the AF would work.

The reason i wouldnt buy them is the cost. Nothing more.

In most cases I would agree with you. But, in this case, it's a $70 savings on a lens that runs $230 brand new...so it's signficant.

If they say that the optics are perfect then go for it.

I'm not the type to buy used lenses, but if I were I would not mind scratches on the barrel as long as the optics and mechanics were perfect.

I would also test the ever-living crap out of the lens as soon as I got it.

Good point, my taste in lenses is typically more then that. With lower price lenses your right the difference in cost can be enough.

However my next lens is going to be the 17-40 and i intend on buying it new.

I bought my 70-200 used and saved about $150, sounded good in the short term but i'm wishing i had just waited another paycheck

UGH...$160 for possibly a great lens with a couple of asthetic issues but has the possibility of a problems with optics or focus. Or, spend $230 and guarantee that it looks great, works great, and has no fungus.

WHAT TO DO?

What lens are you talking about?

Sounds like a consumer grade Canon lens.

How much to get one on eBay?

Best regards,
Andy
