Not an everyday occurrence but not that rare. I just happened to be home, the balloon was in a good spot for a photo and was landing near by so it was not moving very fast. I had time to take a few with the 17-55 and switch to the 70-200 for several more.

Nice shot. The lighting angle looks pretty low, which works well for the pic. ... I'm guessing around 10:00 am??
