View Full Version : Dead BP-511

I have a BP-511 clone (i.e. non Canon) that has died. It got some moisture on it, which I assume shorted it out. The charger says that it is full, but when I put it in the camera, I get no power.
Should I assume it is dead, and toss it, or is there a way I can kick it back to life?

You could use a multimeter and measure if it is putting out any juice. Otherwise, it is dead. :(

Same problem, same solution...
I have cleaned the camera contacts and that seems to help somewhat, but after a short while the problem recurs.
I also have noticed that the canon-supplied external charger behaves differently from the internal (G2) charger. The external charger lamp never turns green as the internal charger does.
I also seem to recall that Canon provided a firmware update for the G2 that was supposed to affect the internal charger's function somehow...

Sorry, my previous reply was meant for the topic:
G2: odd problem related to the battery
