Has any one out there used the Cokin A300 filter holder for the "A" series filters? I have a Canon A630 and was wondering if this would be a good way to go or if there is something out there that would be better. I use the camera mostly for outdoor shots and would be using a split neutral density filter most of the time.
Thanks for any info,
Ron.

Hi Ron,
That is definitely a viable solution but i think the Cokin P series is a better investment. Should you decide to upgrade to a dSLR one day, the P series is still compatible (in most cases). You can get the P filters from Cokin, but the holder from 3rd party manufacturer like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/67mm-Ring-Adapter-Filter-Holder-for-Cokin-P-series_W0QQitemZ160215579985QQihZ006QQcategoryZ300 40QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) with the appropriate size ring adapter, if budget is a concern. However, I'm not sure whether the A630 has any thread in front for the ring adapter to screw in.

Hey, thanks for the comeback! I'm afraid the A630 does not have any way of thread mounting anything. there is a cam lock ring around the base of the lense for an adapter for the wide angle & telephoto lenses made by Canon but I have been unable to find out if the end of the adapter is threaded and if it is what size. I'm going to keep looking for a bit and if I can't find anything better I'll go with the A300.
Thanks again,
Ron.

The adapters for the A630 are threaded; there are a number available from different vendors. The most common sizes are 52 and 58 mm diameters.

Hi Jon, thanks for the reply. The adapter sounds like the way to go in that if I decide to go with a DSLR in the future the filters will transfer.
Thanks again, Ron.
