I have recently gotten a S70 and am very happy with it. However tonight after shooting close ups of my cat..as odd as it sounds.. her nose touched the lens. There is now a smudge there. Nothing thinking I breathed on it and used a cotten shirt real carefully to remove it, or tried. I think this may have been a big mistake. Are the lenses very soft and fragile that I could have ruined my brand new camera?

The smudge is still there. Will this harm my photos, can I leave it be or should I buy a kit to clean this lense.

Thanks for your help!

1) the smudge will not effect the pictures

2) the cotton shirt will not hurt the lens

3) buy a microfiber cloth, and LIGHTLY rub it over the surface, and the smudge will dissapear. if you press hard it will cause more smudging on these lenses (same thing happenes with my familys s50). light buffing will remove it.

I would not be so sure about this. Some kind of fog may appear on the pictures due to undesired refractions in the grease.

I will get a cloth and try and clean it off. I was just concerned after reading up on it that i could have scratched the lens..

i have 7,000 pictures taken with my s50. probably about half of them there has been a smudge on the lens. it has not effected the images.

they are designed to handle the mistakes of the average joe that uses them. the lens is very durable. it would take sand paper to scratch it...
