It's a camera that's been modified to capture a different wave of light (infared). There are also filters that do the same, but using them requires a slower shutterspeed.

looks like frosting, as well as underwater creatures. not together, of course. nice effect. :)

HOW did you do that, and nice work!

As was mentioned about by another person, I have a camera that was modified to shoot Infrared light. That's how this came out as it did, using this camera. It's in my signature, but this is the place that did the conversion: www.Lifepixel.com.
