Hey all... here's my 2nd attempt at shooting some baseball. I tried to take what some of you said to me in my last post and put it to work. Please tell me if I'm getting better.

Thank you

Well a question that I have, are the angles any better? I actually moved around during the game this time. Thanks

Mules - One thing that struck me is that the depth of field on the batter shots is way too large. You shot at f/5.0 and f/5.6, and as a result, the backgrounds, which are already distracting, are so busy and almost in focus, and this ruins otherwise good captures. This isn't as apparent with the pitcher shots 'cuz your BG's are cleaner in these shots.

I realize you're using a 70-300 f/4.0-5.6, and that you were probably as wide as you could be, however since your lens is by far your most limiting piece of gear, you're gonna have to work that much harder to find other positions from which to shoot in order to overcome it.

Get lower, or get higher. Move into the dugout (assuming you have access) and get closer to the plate. Kneel down in the dugout and shoot up at the batter. Wait for the batter to look up after he connects, so you can capture his face, etc...

They are better, the motion blur in the first post was evident but in these it's not. Though I remember you putting your settings and they looked good last time these look better.

As with what Dennis said, if able to move around do it. I know in summer a lot at minor league parks I'm moving into weird postions and get crazy looks from other photogs - then they see the results and ask "how'd you get this or that". But I also know it's limiting at the college level, the lone game I shot last year they put me in a 3x3 box and said I couldnt move. I did anyways after the ump gave me the ok, but it was restricting on those small fields.
