Hello all,

Wow, I have just discovered these forums and all I can say is what a wonderful resource!

I have been shooting with a Canon 300D for a number of years using just the kit lens and whilst I have been happy with the results I took the plunge and purchased a Canon 100 2.8 macro lens which I am yet to receive/use.

Sorry if this has been covered before but can someone recommend a macro flash to go with this set up? I am tossing up between the Canon MT24 EX Twin or the MR14 EX Ring Flash. If the cost difference is not a big issue which would be better for me?

I intend to shoot mostly insects, small animals and flowers and would be looking at upgrading the 300D to a 40D some time this year.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks.

Bob

of the two macro flashes the MT24 appears to be the more versatile. Most here use a 430ex or similar diffused and off camera on a bracket - a set up LordV seems to get reasonable results with. This might be the best way to start as you will need a normal flash for non macro work anyway.

Many thanks for the reply Toby.

Sorry everyone if I have rehashed ground that has been covered 100 times before.

Will check out the 430ex.

I have the 430 EX.....I like it. Ha I might say that LordV gets more than "reasonable" results though LOL
