Hi All,

i'm going back to the trusty old tube - anyone got any suggestions of the best CRT monitors on the market?

Cheers all :)

Best deals are the 19" Dell Flat Screen Trinitrons at thriftshops for $10...usually only 5-7 yrs old...they are beautiful for photography...

The Sony FW-900 is a discontinued 24" behemoth that you can only get via eBay (I believe that most of those that have them are very reputable sellers): http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-GDM-FW900-24-Widescreen-Total-Flat-CRT-Monitor_W0QQitemZ250222508216QQihZ015QQcategoryZ11 6350QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

For a very, very long read on this monitor that might just convince you: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=952788&highlight=fw-900

I bought a used LaCIe Electron Blue 22" a while back, and am pleased with it (as well as with the price.)
It does weigh about 30kgs though ;)

Just stay the hell away from Dell Trinitron 17" monitors. Mine is crap, it's got distortion (fishbowl effect).

i'd like to use two screens and i figured i could set up with a cool CRT for a fraction of the cost of a high end LCD / TFT - plus imo you get better overall colour with the trusty tube :)

Thanks for all the replies, the Sony GDM-FW900 looks v.nice shame it local pickup only on the bay though - i'll keep my eyes open :)

keep an eye out on craigslist in your area too, as shipping a ~100lb package isn't going to come cheap

I would also suggest the Lacie Electron Blue Monitors. I've been using two of their 19" ones in my setup for a long time and they are by far some of the best monitors I have ever seen for the price point.

A friend of mine is a graphic designer that deals a lot with Uncle Sam and he is the one that turned me on to them. He said there are better monitors out there but for the price you can not beat them.
