View Full Version : Neck / Wrist Strap

Sometimes I want the camera on a neck strap. Sometimes I prefer a hand strap.
Hooking and unhooking a strap is a pain in the butt, does anyone know of a easily attached/removed strap that offers both neck and wrist options?
How is the Canon wrist strap? I am assuming that with it mounted, it would not be possible to also mount a neck strap. Is this true? The local camera shops don't have a wrist strap for viewing, and I am not sure how they hook up.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

See page 36. Shows you how to attach both.

Paul,
I've used the Canon wrist strap for a while now. I like it; it gives that extra security walking around with the D30+BG (BTW, the BG is a requirement to fit the wrist strap). The only minor aggravation is that it does get in the way when using the portrait mode shutter release on the BG.

i second roger in that one...
i hardly miss the neck strap...the wrist strap makes it easy to hold the camera down so you don't have to be supporting it all the time with your neck...i recently spent 4 hours with it attached to my wrist with no problems...
but you definately have to have the battery grip to use it...

Thanks for the replies.
Karl, I know I must seem quite dense, but am I reading the PDF correctly, and BOTH the wrist and neck strap can be installed at the same time??
I used a Canon wrist strap with my Elan, and loved it. Unfortunately, that strap will not work on my D60+Big Ed. I too used the strap exclusively, except when my wife wanted to use the camera - she favored the neck strap.

yes you can have both on
I keep both on and only use it around my neck when I am in a position I can not set the camera down to change lenses
otherwise I use the wrist strap and usually wrap my hand through the strap a few times to make it go around my wrist 3 times then it acts like a extra secire if I drop it or want both my hands it can hang there
also the strap is set so it can go around the back of my arm and help stablize the camera

Had to construct it on my own, but this works for me. It's very secure and steady. Always found wrist straps awkward to get on and off and to work around when changing lenses. Used a leather sewing tool to make the loops (material cut from Canon neck strap--flame seal the edges). On occasion I do like a neck strap, which I attach with small carabiners to the finger loops.

I am new to the D60 and to the forum. In my exhaustive search for accessories, I came across the Op/Tech Grip Strap (OTGS2 - $27) at Adorama that looks like a well made item. The attachment is to the tripod screw and to a camera attachment point. Here is the link to the item:

Has anyone found this in the UK?
To buy from Adorama costs at least $59.20 including shipping :(

I loop my hand through the neck strap twice so it is around my wrist (kind of like a leash strap)
then it helps hold it when I need a break to put on a filter or change batter cf card etc....
