Anyone seen this one of these before? Anyone have one? Just curious as to what they thought. Made by Jenis Co. They supposably have a grip for each of the models.

The one for the 400D looks like the top part is oriented the wrong way. The one for the 350D looks closer to what a 400D should be. May be just a goof up in the pics though.

I'd like to know what's displayed in the window and what all those extra buttons do.

"Offer stable holding, Can accommodate two lithium and six AA batteries, Provide Super exposal control functions, there are two line as vertical shutter solely "

Doesn't look like it was proofread very well either.

No prices on the site???? Where would you buy it?

Looks just like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/Pro-Vertical-Battery-Grip-for-Canon-EOS-20D-30D-40D-NEW_W0QQitemZ330217578758QQihZ014QQcategoryZ15215Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohost ing)I think.

The ebay grips says this:

Date/time/stopwatch function

That site looks extremely shady.... I would think a few times before ordering from them.

i would recommend you get the oem one instead. no issue with comparability then.

I had seen a picture with one attached to someones camera and it looked like it displaye the F/stop and exposure....but there is no indication on their website that the digital function is nothing more than a timer or a clock. They sell them on Ebay and another site locally here in Chicago.... i was just curious as well about what was displayed. According to the Jenis website, I guess the maker, their new models will have WIFI in them to transmit your picture data off of the CF card located in the grip.

Stick with the Canon in my opinion, more money but at least your getting the right piece of equipment.

At least the seller of the eBay one seems well established. Not one the these guys with 3 posts who just got a 1D bla bla bla for his birthday and doesn't need a second one. --- yeah, right!

Looks like what you are looking for is here.
Don't be put off by the pictures, (the sites got it mixed with the d80 grip by the same manufacturer) -

it seems apparently one guy bought one and has put a mini review on the page.

i'm thinking about getting one, and it's a pretty neat price... just thinking about why it doesn't mention 'dual LIon battery packs' ..?

I have been looking at grips lately, and the Jenis looks pretty decent. My local camera shop sells them. The shop, which is a really good/quality shop, stocks the Jenis, and special orders the BG-E2N. They have been having problems getting the oem on a regular basis.

Another note -- I would not be surprised if the Jenis and the Canon oem were made by the same manufacturer. They look very similar -- same mold marks, buttons, almost everything. The batteries load a bit differently, but other than that, I'd swear they were the same.

I am quite interested in that grip as well. Looks to be really good, but I would love to hear some user reviews from people here on it, before I put money down for one.

I got this for my 400D. Just as good as the Canon version in my opinion, it is built quite well. And for the price, it is a good pick up.

can you tellus if this item features any distinct branding or manufacturing marks to indicate / help us track down the sellers? (for those of us not wanting to buy the unit on ebay)

That looks just like my original Canon grip for my 400D. I've seen some very poorly made ones but that looks good. Incidentally I got mine off ebay as a used item in immaculate condition with two new batteries for about £50. Came with box etc. Best bit of accessory I have bought for my camera.

As far as grips go I would always suggest buying the Canon original as it is so well built, sturdy and just feels right. Some I tried and looked at were really of poor quality.

Did you ever receive this grip?

I've sent this text the the above quoted user, but thought for the benefit of all reading the thread, i would post it here.
RE: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11228 (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11228)

i would have to say it works for me very similarly to the existing review at:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11228

Regarding something that is different from the review there, is that on my 400D - the on-grip 'timed/programmed shutter release' seems to cause the camera to take images in continuous mode instead of '1 shot' mode. so for every 'run through' say you want it to capture 1 image every 1 minute and to do that 2 times (resulting in 2 images 2 minutes apart), i found it would capture at 3.5 fps for the duration of the first 1 minute interval and then repeat the process for the number of repetitions specified...resulting in 180+ shutter actuations
anyway, i don't use that feature, maybe it only works well on the 350D...

FEEL:
Good solid grip, hangs on to camera very well (better quality than i was expecting for a non-canon piece), - no motion once you've done up the thumb screw. Good smooth extension of existing grip, your fingers can't really feel where the body finishes and the grip begins (in landscape orientation)
Features dual Li-Ion cartridge+6AA cartridge - gold plated contacts, Shutter, Dial, * and Focal point selection + AV/ EV control + extras

Weight:
This grip does make the camera noticably heavier even without a Li-Ion battery in it (yes, you can run the camera with grip and only 1 lithium battery installed) but with 1 or 2 batteries, the combined weight seems to balance out longer lenses nicely for hand held work.

EXTRAS:
The LCD screen is for reporting information regarding the grips status (if you're running a program of repeating shots for example) or otherwise displays the current day, time and date (as such, it has a calendar built in).
There is a sturdy wrist strap attachment underdeath that is inset, but the camera won't sit flat (on the bottom of the grip) if you have a strap connected there.

any further questions can be answered here by request.
