I've read everything I can find on the net, but haven't found the answer to this question yet.
I'm using the Monaco Ezcolor calibration hw/sw on an Eizo S1921 monitor. Should I make the adjustments using the monitor or by using the adjustment setting with my nvidea console. I'm using the 8600 card. I've tried it both ways and get really varied results. If I use one, what should the setting be on the other?
Thanks

If you need to adjust something, adjust the monitor. Any adjustments you make in the graphics card settings will probably be overwritten by the calibration software.

I would leave your hardware as neutral as possible if for no other reason than to eliminate it as a variable. I'd only consider tweaking nVidia's levels and gamma if I was getting constantly undesireable results visually that otherwise should have turned out well according to what my Spyder reports back after calibration.

I'll try that. Thanks for the info.

I tried the nVidia card adjusting this weekend and I ended up having banded screens. I went back to leaving it pretty much normal, I cut the brightness by 5 percent, but then did everything else on the monitor. After I did the video card adjustments and had banding, I read in a thread somewhere that it could happen adjusting on the card. I have a Quatro video card and it still was banding. So I would stay away from the video card, unless, like flyingphoto said, you have to in order to calibrate it.

I'm not sure about the S1921 Eizo, but I have the CG241W. On that model the look up tables and calibration software for iOne and Spyder are built into the monitor. It required uninstalling my spyder software and using Eizos Color Navigator. It does not use the graphics card for color calibration. It has the usual monitor cord as well as the USB calibration cord. Attach both.
If your card and monitor are both capable of digital, you will have to restart the computer for it to search and set itself up as digital.
