I'm looking to replace my NEC 19" LCD. My NEC has an S-IPS panel which I love. But I wish to buy a 24" LCD that would give me the same quality as my current NEC. What 24" LCD out there is the best bang for the buck, which would give me S-IPS quaility and keep it around the $500 dollar mark

I don't think that there are any S-IPS 24" panels. I think the best panel you can get in 24" is an S-PVA, which would be a higher end Dell or higher end Samsung, or similar. You probably are not going to hit the $500 mark with a high end 24" panel. Might be closed to $600-700.

Witout breaking the bank with a LaCie or NEC 24" get a Samsung 244T if one comes your way. They aren't made anylong due to their higher price in a market that strives to go lower. You won't regret it. Easy color adjustments, it rotates, has a usb port, beautiful monitor.

The iMac in my office has a 24" Philips S-IPS panel.

Ok, so how about a good 20" or 22" wide screen LCD under $500 with a S-PVA panel???

So not to be wrong again, I did the research before replying. Nearly all 22" panels are Tn's. Out of several dozen of them, I only saw 2 that were S-PVA's, both made by Eizo.

In the 20" range, there are some S-IPS options available, Apple being one for sure and possibly still the Dell. The Apple is $600 on Amazon. The Dell is $400. The Dell used to be a crap-shoot whether you got an S-IPS panel or a S-PVA panel when you order one. I do not know if this is still the case. I though I heard that they were all S-IPS panels of late. Maybe somebody else and confirm one way or the other on this.

Well that sounds great, but I already have a 19" NEC with the S-IPS and I don't see the point to upgrade 1". I wanted to at least a 22" or the 24", but since there are no inexpensive 22"s then I guess my best bet would be an inexpensive or best bang for my buck 24" S-PVA. So where does that leave me????

Thanks for the info...

This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824185007&ATT=24-185-007&CMP=OTC-Froogle&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Monitors+-+LCD+Flat+Panel-_-DoubleSight-_-24185007) monitor has been getting lots of buzz on hardware forums lately. 26", H-IPS panel, ~$700. It has the same panel as the NEC 2690 and the Planar 26", both highly regarded. I don't have one but I'm seriously thinking about buying one.

I just got two Dell 24" (2407WFP-HC) and im very pleased with them. Awesome color rendition, great contrast and very easy to calibrate.

This monitor is a steal for it's price!!!!

The 2407wfp-hc was recently replaced by the 2408wfp. The new model has great specs on paper but is getting very mixed reviews. If it were me, I'd hold off for awhile before picking up a 2408 until Dell can get some things worked out.

I would go with a Sceptre X24WG-1080P from NewEgg with a extended warranty. I personally own two Sceptre 20.1" LCD monitors and have had absolutely no problems what so ever with them. I had one come with a dead pixel, but NewEgg replaced it within the first 30 days. They are not glossy, which I like. It is only $369.99 ($319.99 after a $50.00 Mail in rebate).
