What Compact shall I opt for

Hi

I'm planning to gift a Compact Camera and confused between following :

Canon S5IS
Panasonic FZ18

Please guide me.

You are going to get quite a biased opinion here (in general), but I think S5 Hands down. The FZ18 seems to have unacceptably poor IQ at the high ISOs . . . if you google both and research (which I just did before finally just deciding to get the SX100 IS)

I'm not sure where you did your research, but this image comparator shows slightly better high ISO performance by the FZ18 compared to the S5.

I am not sure where I read it, but I read it on a review site (that didn't have comparison pictures), but you're certainly right!
