I apologize if the pad and VAB image looks a little soft or noisy. There was quite a lot of atmospheric inhibiting factors to contend with. I have a few after she cleared the pad but haven't found the time to edit them.

Thanks for looking and critique is always welcome.

Cool shots. Is this a normal viewing area or did you have some kind of special access? I would love to see a launch someday.

Damn, man, that first one is one of the most impressive shuttle shots I've seen. Fantastic.

Duece, how far away were you from the launch pad. Was the noise and vibration intense, I would have to guess that you could feel it through your whole body! Great shots, and I will not sarcastically criticize this time, I'd hate to get chastised for my hateful and disparaging remarks! Once again, magnificent shots!! I'd love to try to take some shots like these but living in Ohio, NASA typically doesn't bring the shuttle up here for many lift offs........darn

It's not a normal viewing area per se. When they firmly establish a date for launch they offer a limited amount of tickets for the closest viewing available to the public. They sell out in two minutes so you have to be on the ball to get them. I was set up about 150 feet from where the crews families were viewing so it is a pretty good vantage point about 5 miles from the pad.

In response to the question regarding metering that answer can be found in my original shuttle post towards the end.

Thanks everyone for the kind and encouraging words.

The first shot is just......awesome.....there are no other words to describe it.

i heard on a tv prog that a shuttle launch is the loudest man made noise on earth,it must be amazing to witness it.
