Thought I would like to share this. I tried to use my 10d to take pictures of my granddaughter on Halloween night and got the message err 2. After investigating I found a squished up lady bug in my cf card slot. Mindful that I needed to be careful I used a very soft brush and the vacuum cleaner to remove the lady bug and clean the pins. The camera seems to be working now but I am not really sure it will last as some of the bug may have fallen into the camera. Time and usage will telll.
Lesson learned - do not leave the cf card slot door open when changing cards outdoors and look at the card before inserting. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be more careful from now on. :roll:

Yikes, that IS a scary Halloween story!
I have a feeling that if you cleaned it carefully, as you said, you should be fine. The ladybug on the other hand...

I'm curious;
is error 2 specifically for ladybugs in the CF slot or is it gust a general error for any bug in the CF slot :twisted: :P

Steven - I'm sure ladybugs in the cf slot is a special case.
Can you imagine me telling my wife I need a couple hundred dollars to have the ladybugs cleaned out of my camera. And can you imagine me sending my 10d to Canon with instructions to clean the bugs out of my cf slot? It has been a wierd Halloween.

And I thought software had bugs, hardware had glitches. I guess I was wrong.
