First Macro...Gold Dollar

Well, just got the 100mm Macro and had to find something small yet of known size to shoot. For interest sake I posed an 1853 Gold Dollar next to a penny. Whatcha think?

Thank you. I'm beginning to wish I'd gotten the 180L for it's greater working distance. How can I improve that distance on the 100mm Macro with the full frame 5D? Is that where extension tubes come in to play? Or would the Canon 500D lens do that?
