Hi -
I'm having a problem with my monitor, LG L246WP, when connected to my ATI radeon 1650 graphics card (updated to latest graphics card driver).

When connected via the D-sub cable (analog) there is no flickering. All is basically fine. But I wanted to see if connecting via the supplied HDMI to DVI cable would somehow improve the sharpness/clarity on my monitor. But as soon as I hooked it up my monitor started to flicker...a lot. The screen would also just go black for about 5 seconds every couple minutes or so then come back on...strange.

No settings were changed with ATI's control center or via the OSD display. Display settings are at the recommended 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz refresh rate.

Only change was switching cables and using the OSD to change the input menu to HDMI or RGB respectively.

Any ideas if this is a limitation of the stock graphic card (I don't do any gaming...strickly photo editing, internet use)?

Also does the cable used to connect my PC to my monitor (HDMI vs. Analog)make a difference in sharpness/clarity/color etc. Basically is using a D-sub to D-sub cable somehow limit the potential of this monitor for photo editing.

I obviously want to get the most out of this monitor for photo editing.

FWIW I'm running Vista Home, quad core, 2 GB RAM

Thanks for any input.

When I hooked up my Eizo monitor, I wanted to use the digital output, but it kept showing Analog. I found out that when you hook up the digital cable, you have to restart your computer and it will search for the digital monitor and use that connection.
