Finally had a warm day so i went on a hike. Found a few more insects than I had expected. This may be a red velvet mite, but oddly enough I didn't think we had these in the North East US.

Excellent capture. very vivid colors. I too found some of these this weekend, will post mine soon. This one is very sharp.

won't be more than 2mm so very good shot.

thanks for the comments guys. This thing was actually the size of a common tick. So I would say it was around 5mm +. Maybe this is the Giant species?

Another excellent shot Cyrpto - very sharp and plenty of detail. Surprised at it being 5mm, the few that I've spotted were only 1-2mm at most.

Hiya Crypto,

Great shot, I love these little one I seem to be lucky in my neck of the woods as there are thousands of these hereabouts, fluffy slippers with legs :lol:
