I know they arent going to be great, just got my camera, this is my first time taking pics of myself with it. It was a pain in the ass to get a focus point using auto focus. I had to tape something on the wall as a focus point for where i would be standing. I know i dont pose the best but im not a model. My face is a little red because its hot in my room. If someone who knows PP can please make my eye color more visable or teach me how that would be awesome.

Good first attempts. I'd step away from the background a bit to eliminate the shadows.

Indeed, Good shots. And i agree with above that stepping away from the background will give the shot a nice feel.

If you want to lean against the wall, try shooting from an angle, so your shoulder is facing the camera - you can turn your head to face the camera as well. This will avoid that straight on flat look. Also, if you have a north facing window, or a window that doesn't have direct sunlight streaming through it, stand about 5 or 6 feet away from that window, with your shoulder facing the window. That natural light will do wonders for wrapping the light around your form. It will also make nice catchlights in your eyes. Try to compose some head only shots to get more detail in your eyes. Also, compose the shot with a simple background should you choose the natural light route.

Keep at it and have fun.
