Anyone tried this yet ? i'be been reading other threads on here and love the effect. Anyone with a compact camera tried yet ? One post said DSLR's have a strong IR filter on them, but do compacts ? - I tried to photograph the IR LED on my Sky remote - was fine and easy, but does that mean an IR filter will be ok, or does it just mean the LCD is just converting it into the visible spectrum for my benefit ?
I used ISO 200, B&W mode, 1/8sec

If you can see the remote, your camera's IR-sensitive. Go for it!

ahh, if you can only see the led device on the remote as a white blob on you're lcd there is most probably an IR filter in the lense assembly.. if you can point your remote at an object in total darkness & see that object on you're lcd then there is probably no filfer.
just my observation..
