Just made the big mistake of taking my Ixus V out on a heavy night on the drink. It was great fun at first, taking loooads of photo's, and everyone was really impressed with the camera.
Near the end of the night tho' a friend went to take a picture and dropped the camera!! The CF card came out and when I tried to put it back in it wouldnt fit. When I sobered up I could see it was because one of the pins it fits onto had slightlt bent. I managed to carefully bend it back, and get the card back in. The camera is still not working tho'. I try to turn it on, and nothing happens at all. The battery had plenty of charge left, so its not that, but obviously just something else caused by the drop!

I'm holiday at the moment in Spain, and will be for another month so its going to be tricky getting it fixed.

What should I do??? My friend who dropped it has travel insurance which he thing will cover repair costs, and I've had the camera only 5 months so maybe its also still covered by warranty. Would warranty work tho if they knew it had been dropped??

Has anyone had any experiences in getting them fixed? I'm guessing it could take a long time!! And is there anything that could be worth trying to get it working?

Any advice on what to do, where to take it etc and if I stand any chance of getting it fixed before I leave Spain would be greatly appreciated!!

before you blame the problem on the camera, i'd try another cf card to see if it works.

Already tried that, but no luck.

Been looking at buying a new one out here, but the prices are ridiculous! Seen an Ixus V for 650 euros!!! (about 430 pounds) Does anyone know of any mail order places that are cheap and still sell the Ixus V.

I broke a camera on holiday in Canada - dropped it into the Pacific!!! But it was covered by travel insurance - easily solved when I got back to the UK.
