I want to purchase the 580EX. If you purchased a 580EX, please let me know how you like the unit.
Thanks

:D I have a 580EX. All in all it’s ok, however I find that it tends to overexpose. It seems to make no difference if I use my 10D or my 1Ds. The real problem is that there are very few options out there for a Canon digital camera in full ETTL mode. Now if Mecablitz would just get off of their duffs and come up with a real adaptor. Life would be grand. The other thing I have found is that if you wish to shoot fairly rapidly, you will need an external power supply. (Beefier battery) Hope that helps.

I've got the 580EX and like it. I've not had the overexposure problem mentioned above with my 20D. Things seem to be quite consistent.
On a fresh set of batteries the recycling time is quite good averaging 3 to 5 seconds.
No real complaints to date other than if seems to feel loose even when "locked-in" on the hot shoe. Weird, there seems to be a little bit of give side to side (not forward) :? . But that's more of a peeve than a problem
Cheers,
:D
