anyone use this process? this article: http://www.westcoastimaging.com/wci/page/info/articles/jeffwhy.html
which is basically an advertisement for West Coast Imaging, makes this paper and process sound like the bomb!

I've always heard that West Coast is highly regarded, and that Fuji Crystal Archive is very highly regarded.

I have several 16x20 FCA prints. They are incredible (and should be for the price I paid). Not only are the colors beautiful, but the process is very stable and the prints should last 80+ years if behind glass.

Fuji Crystal paper has been in use at your better mini-labs for a LONG time. The last claim I saw for the product was 60+ years.
My customers and I always liked the colors that were on those prints, versus the times I had to settle for Kodak paper.

i guess a better title for my post would've been about this lab in particular, since i too have had photos printed on fuji archival paper, which is indeed gorgeous. i'm just wondering if their process is really that different?

Westcoast is my high-end print benchmark - image detail and color accuracy produced by their LIGHTJET are both exceptional (compared to MPIX and Shutterfly which are both very good in their own right). When I want the very best rendition of a particular print I used Westcoast until I found another lab locally in Portland, Or - Digicraft (which uses essentially the same equipment) - saving shipping charges. Prints that I hang in my own house are either LIGHTJET or Epson2200 produced.
As an enthusiast (non-professional) I have sold twenty 16x20 pictures (14 printed from Shutterfly, 3 printed from Westcoast and 3 printed from Digicraft - all printed on Fuji Crystal Archive matte finish). Personally I will continue to use Shutterfly for economy and convenience because few people can tell the difference - but a 65mb AdobeRGB TIFF file printed on a LIGHTJET makes a nicer print than a 6mb sRGB jpeg... one last comment, not all images benefit enough to pay the premium in my own experience. Generally MPIX or Shutterfly suit me perfectly well.
My 2 cents.

David,
Your 2 cents was very helpful information - thanks! and it seems you're right up the road a piece in Pdx!
