I took a bunch of photos yesterday, cropped a few, then threw them into an image gallery program. It made a nice gallery for me, but the first photo appeared last, because i'd edited it and it was working off the new timestamp on the photo.

Is there a way to get photoshop to leave the file modification date intact, so my images show up in the correct order?

What gallery program are you using? Most tend to use the filename to sort or there is a choice of what field you want to sort the display on.

I also have a program that creates an album and when the shots are all highlighted to enter all into the program at once, the first one goes to the end, but can then be sorted. However, if when highlighting all the files, instead of highlighting the first file and then the last, if I highlight from the last file to the first, they stay in the proper order... go figure.

I use http://jalbum.net - it's a great program. You can specify your sort order as by name or by date, it's just a shame I changed the file modification dates. There are ways to make it do things in the order you want, it just takes a little more effort.

In JAlbum you can press the edit button in the image ordering section. You will then see a text editor pop up with each image on its own row. Just rearrange the images and save, then generate an album again. You'll have to do that for each folder in your album.
