I just started to use my pocket wizards and umbrellas and 3 580ex's.
The wizards heve been working well, I have 3 that have been triggering my 2 flashes.
My question is... I been firing 2 580exII's and found that a hair light would be nice with my 3rd flash, a 580ex (on slave)
The only way I have been able to have the 3rd flash fire is on "M" (manual) and the other flashes on ETTL. Also, the slaved flash will not register in the picture at 1/60th but it will register at 1/50th.
I am not against reading and trying to figure this all out myself, just thought I would get pointed in the right direction first.

I guess my bottom line question is what it the easy or normal way and settings to fire these 3 flashes with 3 pocket-wizards, and what are my restrictions (shutter-speed?)

Hope I explained this mess I made in a understandable way? Thanks for any help in advance.

You can just use 2 PWs, one on the master 580 in manual mode, the other 2 slave 580 in ETTL mode and in group B and C, you can control all 3 flashes' manual power output form the master 580.

If you use all the 3 of PWs in this way: one for the master/slave, one for 580 by itself, the slave 580 most likely will not fire.

That works great and all 3 flashes sinc up to 1/100. But the master has to be on ETTL for it to work. Sound right? 2 slaves are on "M" (Manual)
I liked having the reliability of the PW to fire, do not know how will it will slave through an umbrella? Something I will have to try.
Thanks for the help!!

The master should be set to Manual mode if you want to use it for lighting as well. In ETTL mode, the output power level will be unpredictable or else fire at full power, neither of which you really want. The slaves can be set to either ETTL mode or manual mode, depending on where you want to set the slave power levels, on the master or on the slaves.

the master will not fire anything in "M", and the slave go off at different times, after the mater fires when the slaves are in ETTL mode. But the slaves go off all in sinc when they are in "M"

Well, I got them working together and slaving with no problem. 3 flashes, 2 pocket-wizards, 2 flashes slaved. Took a little bit of messing around with the flashes to get them pointing in the right direction, but it all worked great in the end.
