Hello,
Is anyone familiar with a blinking "err22, 000". My D30 will not read my cards. I have the IBM Micro Drive and the CF card that came with the camera. When I insert either card, the camera completely shuts down showing only the blinking error message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl

Hi cheryl
I had this error message once. I switched off the camera, removed the card blew in the card slot (never know;)) and put everything back and that worked.
Now if you have trouble with two different cards and that the "blow" solution doesnt work, maybe the CF slot of your camera is damaged :(. htat is the only thing i can think of with some dust in the pin holes of your cards.
Good luck
(just in case)
ERR 22: CF DRIVER
DESCRIPTION: This error occurs when image data cannot be written to the CF card. This error can occur when the CF card is not fully seated in the camera or if the D30 does not detect a card-ready signal within a specified time limit or when the CF card is not usable because it has been corrupted or physically damaged. It can also occur when the camera's battery level is insufficient to completely write the file to the CF card.
REMEDIAL MEASURE:
Use the DC Coupler or recharge the battery first. If the error continues to occur with sufficient power available to the camera, check that the CF card is properly inserted. If that's not the problem, then try replacing the CF card. If that does not solve the problem, have the EOS D30 and one of the CF cards that is causing the problem examined by a qualified service technician.

Mine does this usually after I format or erase my microdrive. I simply remove and re-insert the D30 battery and it is fine from then on. I have missed some important shots because of this but it helps if I take a "dummy" shot (really good at those:) ) to verify the card integrity right after I erase or format.
On rare occations, I will get "error 22" right in the middle of the day for no obvious reason. Fortunately this is rare as it really gives you a shock.
I have used the microdrive from day one with the D30 and suspect it occurs more often than it would with a simple type I card due to the mechanical nature of the microdrive. At any rate, I have always been able to get past "error 22" and it is the only error I ever get.

Hi again Cheryl.
Weel if you have a solution (even a temporar one) it is not too bad. I bought myself a microdrive and had some problm with it too.
Exept from this: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4621, i also had a Corrupted data message with a big interogation point on the LCD screen. Hopefully i only lost one picture, but i dont want to imagine if i had lost the 100 other stored on the microdrive.
I finally decided to go back to CF card, which are a bit more expensive, but more robust as well. And i also noticed that Microdrive drain much more battery that normal CF. (so i am selling a microdrive bythe way ;))
Hope you will solve your problem.
Bye

There is a good chance that the microdrive is dead. My IBM 340 microdrive just died on my today, after 3+ years of service.

Is there a site where Error Codes are explained together with suggested measures? The manual is very secretive about them.
