Was shooting the Wales v Slovenia contest at Mourneview today. Excellent game which ended 1-1.
Lovely late afternoon/early evening light. Though it did cause parts of the ground to be in shadow which made it tricky at times. Having said that, I really enjoyed this shoot.
What do you think?

I think you did a good job but the white jerseys are blown in the sunlight. I tried to fix one for you. All i did was take it into aperture and remove some highlights and shadows.

yup.. nothing a bit of tlc in photoshop or simmilar wont cure.. it can be hard work when too bright.. or too dark... just a nice steady overcast day is good :)

Yeah I noticed that some of the highlights were blown. It was the only frustrating bit.

I've contacted the Welsh FA to see if they wish to use them. I wonder if there's any publications that could do with them. I was the only photographer there.

You probably needed to be a bit quicker for NEWSpapers :)
But internationals.. All the players will play for clubs... I imagine the clubs will want a pic of there team member gaining a cap.. players will want a momento but if they have no idea who you are or how to get the pictures then your just not going to sell any anywhere..
So first job is to let the right people know who you are and that you ahve the pics ...

Ok folks I really appreciate the tips. I've reworked the entire set and editted my original post. I was able to rescue the majority of blown highlights. Thanks again ;)
KIPAX-i've actually been in touch with both the Welsh FA and their Youth Officer (he gave me his card before the game) so i'll see how that pans out.

Great shots for what seemed like pretty harsh lighting!

Roy I was using both my 70-200 2.8L and 200 prime 2.8L.
Cheers Dan. The lighting enabled me to get very fast shutter speeds at times but also, as I discovered played havoc with the whites.
I sharpened and posted a couple more here http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=472327

Hi Steve,
Went down to Newry last night for NI v Slovenia. Lights weren't bad, but a wee bit inconsistent in places. Some fierce tackling on show with one NI player stretchered off after an elbow to the throat.:(

Cheers mate. Was just curious how you got it so sharp. As i've said before my 400d only goes to ISO1600. I do like my wee camera (and my da's which I borrow for a second body) but i'm going to have to go for something higher for next season.
Anyway, enjoy your shooting over the weekend. I'm off to London in 7 hours for a few days, so there'll be no sports shooting for me :p
