Hey

At the moment i have 2 skyport recievers, i want to use one on the sunpak, one on the 580 Ex II and then use that 580 to trigger the other 580 using the built in optical triggers on them (the canon System)

Is this possible at all?

Thanks

I think there have been issues with using the Skyport system to fire the 580EX (I or II) in master manual mode. I'm a little fuzzy on this so I'll yield to those who have tried it.

It is possible with PocketWizards, but you need to connect to the 580EX II via hotshoe adapter (not the PC socket), and you'll be limited to 1/125 shutter speed.

An easier option would be to use an optical slave on one of the units.

The Skyport will not fire the the 580EX II or 580EX in master manual mode, even if you use a hotshoe adapter.

And, to use the "hybrid triggering" (part fundimental sync, part Canon infrared) you must have Manual-master mode.

So, what you want to do is not possible.

As Curtis suggests, just put an optical slave on the Sunpak.

Flash do you carry optical slave for the Sun packs. I need 2 of them.

You don't need special optical slaves for Sunpaks.

EXiis will not fire from optical slaves that are connected via the flashes hotshoe, so these need to be connected via sync ports only.

The 2 at the top of this page will suit your needs http://flashzebra.com/opticalslaves/index.shtml

I just acquired two more sunpak 383s and am finding myself sorely wishing I had a radio triggering system. I just wish they were more affordable! I refuse to get the cactus triggers because general consensus says they are too weak, inconsistent, battery draining, have limited sync speeds, and need more modifications than I'm inclined to attempt in order to work better.

hopefully those radiopoppers will come soon for you then =) I've been happy enough with my ebay units, but im very interested to see if those RP units do the deed at the projected cost.

What did you have to do to get it to work?

If I am make a susgetion. Get the Elinchrom Sky port universal set. The buy a couple optical flash triggers from flash. I have been amazed how well they have been working.
