I like the texture of the granite that you captured very well.
One suggestion that I have is to make sure that the horizon is level.

I think I would agree with the above comments if the people weren't there. something about the processing in that area of the photo looks overdone. If my eyes aren't playing tricks on me, I think there are halos around all of them (?from sharpening).
very nice otherwise.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions! I got as level as I could on that part of the hill, but it was incredibly steep (at least to someone as out of shape as I am) and I wanted to get the shot before the people moved into a more vegetated area. I did over sharpen it a little, but I was shooting with the kit lens and I really wanted to get that rich texture of the granite to come out.

You do not have to get the camera perfectly level when making the shot, but when there is a good reference for level as in the distant horizon, then it can be corrected using your post processing software. In this image, there is a tilt of almost 4 degrees, which, when corrected, will show that enchanted rock is much steeper than pictured at this point.
Although the sharpening may appear to be rather strong in this image, it actually does help to emphasize the texture of the granite and the sunlight glistening from its surface -- something that does not ordinarily show up as well in photographs as it does when viewed in person. So, in this case, I think that the strong sharpening helped to recreate a visual impression of the scene.
