Noooo....
That's so sad... He wrote lots of fine fine stories.
Rendezvous with Rama was one of my favourites.

Certainly one of the greatest visionaries in human history.
Now among the stars...

I hope that he attains his wish and has his ashes scattered among the stars.
It was good enough for Scotty, it's surely good enough to Arthur C Clarke.

I was hoping he'd live to at least hear about some positive SETI news :-(

He will be missed.
One of the greatest writers.
'Reunion' and 'Wind from the Sun' being my favourite short stories.

brilliant mind I saw the opening of 2001 in 1968. Who could imagine nearly living parts of the story 40 years later. If my HAL here is in a good mood you'll get to read this.

1) When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
2) The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
3) Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
He will be missed. One of the greatest and interesting minds of his time.

Damn. I have many, many of his stories... one of my all-time favourite writers. Rama was an awesome series. He will be sadly missed.
