I have a sigma 28-135 F3.5-5.6 Macro lens that I got as the first lens to go on my D30. Its no big shot lens...and only cost about $120, but I have only had it for a year and the Aperture is locking down on me.

If I take a photo, especially with a small f-stop (large number like 11) the stop closes and sticks. Sometimes when I turn the camera off and back on the stop opens again. Sometimes I have to actually remove the lens before it will open. Once it never opened...so I angrily tossed it (but gently, I'm very careful with my stuff) into my bag and swore a blue streak. The next day the aperture had popped back open.

Now I know its perhaps on the cheaper side of lenses...but heck, I only had it for a year. And I haven’t done anything to it.

The only thing I can think is that It has been to the beach to take photos of kite-boarding before. Now Its never been dropped or gotten much sand on it...but maybe one grain from the wind or something got in there somehow?

Anybody have sigma lens trouble?

I have the Sigma 70-200 2.8 and I have NEVER EVER had any trouble with that lens at all...its great I love it.

Maybe Ill just have to upgrade my smaller lens. :?

I had the same problems with the 17-35 HSM lens and the 120-300 EX lens. So best of luck sigma adjusted the 17-35 way too many times so I sold it off and got rid of it. The 120-300 was new so I just sent it back and did not get an other one. Sigma Value is good some time’s sigma quality can be questionable. It is the way it is. Never had this problem with any of my canon lenses.

Yes, had this on a 15-30 - if it's a year old (or even slightly older) they'll fix it under warranty, no problem.

If it had a US warranty.. it has 4 years... (maybe that's only the EX with 4 years?) anywya.. it might be under warranty.

I just sent my 28-200 back for the same thing. Mine did it on vacation in Hawaii and I had to go buy a Rebel to get a lens that I could use.
What I noticed was the cheap Canon lens from the Rebel made much sharper pics than the Sigma did.
I hope they fix both problems otherwise I am dumping Sigma.
